11x Red Dot Design Awards 2020
Best of the Best for Aquno Select M81
Stuttgart, 22 June 2020. Phoenix Design is honoured to receive 11 awards at the Red Dot Design Award 2020, among them one Best of the Best for the hansgrohe kitchen faucet Aquno Select M81. The international panel of nearly 40 jurors honoured only 76 of the more than 6,500 submitted products from 48 categories with the competition’s top accolade, the “Best of the Best”. Aquno has already received all important design awards, among them Gold at the German Design Award and Gold at the German Innovation Award. Further Red Dot Awards were given to sanitary products from the AXOR and hansgrohe brands, as well as to Schiedel (Kingfire fireplaces).
With the hansgrohe Aquno Select M81, PHOENIX is turning over a new page in the kitchen. This faucet series excels by its most efficient use of water. In its design, PHOENIX has taken into account the optimal workflow around the kitchen sink as well as the mindful handling of water, while at the same time ensuring top functionality and clear design. A new kitchen faucet archetype is born: the laminar spray jet precisely showers the food placed in the matching multi-function strainer. The vanguard faucet Aquno M81 with its roundly arched spout makes clear geometry and functionality converge, an ideal combination e.g. when filling large receptacles. A light tap on the kitchen faucet’s tablet activates the horizontal sprays: 133 micro-fine single sprays create a high-volume, yet water-saving shower. The Aquno Select M81’s minimalist language of form is continued through the rectangular lever used to control water flow and temperature with only one hand. The Aquno Select M81 represents a perfected, fluent, and easy workflow around the kitchen sink and is thus a perfect statement in terms of design-aware and modern kitchen design.
Statement by the Jury: Refreshingly innovative and elegantly implemented, the concept of the Aquno Select M81 reinterprets the kitchen mixer tap. It thus promotes an optimised workflow in the kitchen. Showcasing a highly attractive language of form, this model inspires with its concise design and clear lines. The accentuated edge guide in the lower fitting area goes hand in hand with an impressively sophisticated functionality and expanded options of how to let water flow.
About the Red Dot Design Award: In order to be able to professionally judge the many facets of design, the Red Dot Design Award is differentiated into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design, and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is one of the largest design competitions worldwide. In 1955, a panel of jurors convened for the first time in order to evaluate the best designs at the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and the brand of the award. Since then, the coveted “Red Dot” award has become the internationally renowned seal for outstanding design quality. www.red-dot.de.
